Network extension for new irrigation scheme at Waihao Downs, 60km south of Timaru.
A new irrigations scheme is in the process of being developed at Waihao Downs approx. 60km south of Timaru. In order to supply electricity an extension of the network is required.
Two new circuits will be built: one express circuit from the Bells Ponds zone substation to the Waihao Downs pumping station; and one distribution circuit to supply the Waihuna Feeder.
Despite the recent cold temperatures the project with a planned duration of eight weeks has started. 120 new power poles have been installed and will be wired with Jaguar conductor over a length of 8kms. 52kms of Jaguar will be used to wire the 11kV double circuit.
