In the heart of the South Island
NETcon Ltd is based in Timaru, 160km southwest of Christchurch and about 200km northeast of Dunedin on SH1. With a population of 27,000 Timaru is not a very big place but yet has plenty to offer:
- shopping facilities, cafes and restaurants
- pre-, primary and secondary schools
- sport facilities and sport clubs
- Royal Theater, art galleries and museum
- annual events, i.e. Food and Wine Festival or Festival of Roses
- Aoraki Polytech, and District Library

Being a coastal town there are plenty of recreational areas along the waterfront like Caroline Bay beach including the Aquatic Centre, a well established bay area including rose garden and aviary, as well as walking and biking tracks and a surf beach. With rolling hills and native forests there are many places to explore for trampers, mountain bikers and cyclists. SH8 connects Timaru with the central South Island, mountains, lakes, canals and places like Tekapo, Mt Cook, Twizel and Geraldine which offer further opportunities to outdoor activities:
- tramping tracks and short walks
- ski fields
- water sports
- camping grounds
- fishing and hunting
- Tekapo Observatory and night sky photography
- annual events, i.e. Arts and Plants Festival in Geraldine
